NCL partners up with TIME to sponsor two ‘partner first’ menteeships

Norwegian Cruise Line has partnered with Travel Industry Mentor Experience (TIME) to sponsor two Partners First’ Australian travel industry scholarships in 2022

The expanded partnership between TIME and NCL was announced by NCL’s senior sales manager, Angela Middleton at Wednesday’s TIME 2021 graduation event. Middleton has previously been both a TIME mentor and mentee as well as serving as a TIME committee member.

Middleton speaks highly of her participation in TIME as both a mentee and a mentor. “TIME is an incredibly well-rounded and practical program which inspired me to accelerate my career through the rewarding experience as a mentee, and later, a mentor. Now, my colleagues Jacinta and Vanessa are enjoying the benefits of the program.”

“Our commitment to Partners First is something we live every day, which is why we’re thrilled this partnership allows us to give back to the travel community by supporting tomorrow’s industry leaders on their career journey,” said Damian Borg, NCL’s regional sales director.

“I’m extremely proud NCL is contributing these two generous scholarships and we look forward to seeing our 2022 mentees take the next step in their careers.”

TIME’s professionally matched mentor-mentee career development program runs for six months and involves each mentee identifying their career objectives before undertaking fortnightly one-to-one meetings with their mentor.

In turn, mentors provide guidance, advice and constructive feedback to help build the mentee’s skills, knowledge and self-confidence.

Mentees learn leadership competencies and new ways of thinking while gaining professional experience and a deeper understanding of the importance of culture, vision and values to their careers.

Penny Spencer, chair and founder of TIME, said she was thrilled at the commitment NCL has made to the travel industry.

“NCL has shown leadership and investment in not only their staff but to the wider travel industry, and we commend them for their vision,” Spencer said.

NCL also celebrated the graduation of Vanessa Green, business development manager for NSW/ACT from the TIME 2021 program. Jacinta Baker, business development manager WA, NZ & home-based agents, is a current mentee set to graduate in April 2022.

The two successful scholarship winners will be owner/managers or senior consultants at a travel agency in Australia, aged 18 and over, working full-time and having been in the industry for at least one year.

Interested agents should apply before 12 March 2022, with the scholarships to commence in April.
