Sunrise’s David “Kochie” Koch to host sustainable tourism webinar featuring industry heavyweights

Tune in tomorrow morning for an hour-long webinar on sustainable tourism presented by Tourism Tropical North Queensland (TTNQ) and Pinstripe Media, with a special focus on the Great Barrier Reef.

Set to kick off at 11:30am on 22 October, the webinar will be hosted by Sunrise co-host David “Kochie” Koch featuring a panel of tourism heavyweights, media personalities and TNQ business owners, including John O’Sullivan (CEO of Experience Co), Lee Tulloch (travel writer and author), Johnny Murison (Jarramali Rock Art Tours), Quentin Long (co-founder of Australian Traveller Media), and Mark Olsen (chief executive of TTNQ).

The panel will discuss how current global circumstances are driving the desire for a greater purpose of travel and how it translates to various levels of the industry, not just tourism.

According to Olsen, the purpose of the webinar is to give context to the topic with a destination like Tropical North Queensland.

“We want to challenge the webinar viewers to consider these questions in the light of a unique destination like Tropical North Queensland where the proposition has long been for visitors to immerse themselves in the remarkable environment that is the Great Barrier Reef,” he said.

Tropical North Queensland is considered a leading nature-based and eco-tourism destination with business operators in the region holding eco-certification for decades, and actively innovating and contributing to environmental research for years.

“After our lockdowns, there is an overwhelming craving for meaningful contact and reconnection to the world beyond our four walls,” Olsen added.

“The webinar was born out of the idea that people will emerge and have a greater sense of consciousness about their travel plans – where they travel, how they travel, why they travel and what the impact of their travel could be on the communities and environments they visit. We want to challenge their thinking and be inspired by our region.”

The webinar is free to view, but be sure to register HERE.
