Another Helloworld agency bites the dust

Red closed sign with written in it

Helloworld Travel has lost yet another one of its agencies in Victoria, with the business going into liquidation and owing a combined $340,000 to customers.

Shayenglobal Pty Ltd, which traded as Helloworld Travel Plenty Valley, was wound up on 6 July 2021 “primarily as a result of COVID-19 restrictions and border closures”, according to administrator Mackay Goodwin.

ABC News reported that the agency, which was located in the outer-Melbourne suburb of Mill Park, has left 56 customers out of pocket to the tune of $340,000.

The Plenty Valley outfit isn’t the only Helloworld agency to go bust this year, with JMW Travel, which traded as Helloworld Monbulk and Helloworld Bentleigh, forced into liquidation despite the efforts of the administrator to keep it afloat.

On a more positive note, Helloworld CEO Andrew Burnes was optimistic about the company’s future prospects when speaking about its recent full-year results.

“It has been a very difficult time for our industry, but after 18 months of being largely shut down, there is finally some light at the end of the tunnel as Australians and New Zealanders embrace vaccination as the pathway out of this pandemic,” he said.
