Abercrombie & Kent’s longstanding regional boss exits

Abercrombie & Kent’s longstanding regional boss exits

After more than 30 years at Abercrombie & Kent (A&K) in Australia, Sujata Raman has resigned as regional managing director for Australasia and the Asia Pacific to pursue other interests.

Raman started her career at A&K in Egypt before moving to A&K Australia in 1990. She was appointed managing director in 2002 and subsequently regional managing director for Australasia, Hong Kong and China.

Under Raman’s management, A&K Australia is now recognised as one of the country’s leading luxury travel businesses.

Highly respected within the travel industry and by all at A&K, Raman’s leadership encouraged innovation and diversity.

She has also been a strong advocate for the benefits that sustainable travel can have in the communities where A&K operates, and was active in promoting the work of A&K Philanthropy around the globe protecting local culture and heritage, wildlife, wilderness and, importantly, livelihoods.

“The team at A&K wishes Sujata well and thanks her for her years of service,” the company said in a statement.

A&K’s Graham Wood has taken over the regional managerial role on an interim basis. Originally from Ireland, Wood grew up in a number of countries across Africa.

It was in Zanzibar where he started his first job with A&K as operations manager in 1999. Since then, he spent 16 years with the company including time as managing director of both Tanzania and Hong Kong.

After relocating to Australia in 2015, Wood operated his own luxury travel agency while also spending three years managing the inbound operations of Overseas Adventure Travel in North Asia, the South Pacific and Africa.
