Travel agency lends a hand with PPE production

Staff at an Aussie travel agency have been keeping busy during the COVID-19 slowdown by helping produce much-needed face masks.

Executive Edge Travel co-founder Yvonne Verstandig and her team have been lending support to Australian family-owned and -operated fashion business, Fella Hamilton, as it rushes to keep up with the high demand for personal protective equipment (PPE).

Verstandig’s sister and Fella Hamilton CEO, Sharon Hamilton, has been overwhelmed with huge orders for masks from hospitals, government entities and corporate companies and from individuals throughout Australia.

The masks form part of the new Fella Hamilton Healthcare range which also includes hospital scrubs and gowns to be rolled out by the fashion house.

The new extension of Fella Hamilton’s business is ensuring the ongoing employment of its many loyal staff including designers, pattern makers, machinists, cutters, production team, mail order and dispatch staff – and the team from Executive Edge Travel while awaiting a return to their global travel operations.

The result has been an overwhelming response for PPE across Australia and Fella Hamilton is working around the clock to meet the demand of its many orders – currently producing 25,000 masks per week.

Verstandig said Hamilton was thrilled when she asked if the Executive Edge Travel team could help with the heavy administration workload involved with the customer service liaison, packing of masks and sending out orders.

“We are loving the work and knowing that we are helping out with such an important assignment for all the great people at Fella Hamilton,” Verstandig said.

“Like everyone, we are hoping to get through these challenging times and look forward to a bright new future for travel, but in the meantime, we must all try to keep safe, healthy, and happy.

“I am enjoying juggling the rosters of the team between Fella Hamilton and Executive Edge ensuring that all are motivated and engaged through these tough times.”
