Agents invited to ask CLIA’s Joel Katz their burning cruise questions

The Cruise Lines International Association (CLIA) has kicked off a new Q&A video series for agents across Australasia to address their burning questions.

The series is titled Ask Joel and sees CLIA’s managing director for Australasia, Joel Katz, answering the sometimes tricky questions to bring the community up to speed on how the association is responding to COVID-19.

In the first episode, which was released on Facebook this week, Katz addressed what the industry is doing to correct the perception of cruising in the media, CLIA’s role, and the processes and actions required to develop new ‘beyond-COVID’ industry protocols.

The series has been developed in response to a recent member survey, which found one in five cruise and industry stakeholders wants visibility of how others in the industry are adapting to the changing requirements.

“As we work to rebuild our industry and recover from COVID-19, I’ll be sharing some of our members’ most frequently asked questions,” Katz said in episode one.

“I encourage anyone in the wider cruise community to participate by sending in any questions you have to askjoel@cruising.org, and we’ll do our best to address as many as we can in this series.”

The new series comes as the association announced its ocean-based cruise line members will voluntarily extend the suspension of cruise operations from ports in the United States until 15 September, despite the Centre for Disease Control (CDC)’s latest update indicating the No Sail order will be lifted on 24 July.
