Image of plane passenger stitching dirty message mid-flight goes viral

An image of an alleged airline passenger caught embroidering “eat a bag of d**ks” into her cross-stitch has gone viral on social media.

“I love how this lady is passing the time,” reads the caption of an image of a cross-legged, seemingly relaxed and middle-aged woman embroidering a cheeky “eat a bag of d**ks” into her cross-stitch.

It is uncertain whether the image was doctored or genuine, but since being posted on Facebook to the group ‘Shut The Front Door’ on Tuesday, it has amassed more than 52,000 likes and 34,000 thousand shares.

And among the further 20 thousand comments posted to the page, there were, unsurprisingly, a few corkers.

“But…. how’d she get on a plane with a needle?” one user questioned.

“I’m impressed she can cross her legs in [an] airplane seat,” another quipped.

“We keep being asked if this is one of us – it’s not – but would be a worthy member,” the PEG – Profanity Embroidery Group – Whitstable said, congratulating the knitter on their handy work.

“Excellent work. There is something quite joyful in how people’s expressions change from ‘oh look, someone’s ‘knitting’ (wtf?) to when they see what we are actually stitching.”

“I need one of these to put in my handbag and pull out at appropriate moments – appropriate crafty moments that is….,” another ‘crafty’ user added.
