“Who doesn’t love a good underdog story?!”: Aussie agent to compete on new season of Survivor

An Aussie travel agent is swapping out lush poolside vaycays she sends her clients on for something a little more… tropical.

Daisy Richardson, a Flight Centre employee from Queensland, is the latest recruit to be announced for the new season of Australian Survivor and based on an interview she did with 10 Daily, it looks like she might be in with a chance.

Drawing on her experiences attending boarding school and growing up in the bush, Richardson said she knows how to get her way.

“I mean, you’re just a number at boarding school so if you want to get noticed you have to do things big, so you know, that really translated really well into the game of ‘Survivor’,” she told 10 Daily.

“And then I also think growing up in the bush as well, you know, facing three major droughts gives you that real resilience. I went in there drawing from both those experiences.”

Despite being well equipped for the challenge, Richardson also expressed her surprise for how “mentally tough it is out there”.

“The weather was pretty wild this year, and the personalities were huge,” she said.

Richardson also admitted it was her workmates who put her up to applying for the show.

When the season kicks off, she will face former Olympians, sporting legends and CEOs who make up this year’s Champions tribe. But she said she isn’t intimidated by the big names.

“I think you’ve got to put all the challenges into perspective. And you know, a lot of these people have started at the bottom, so we can very easily put them back there,” she said.

“We’re definitely out for blood this season; this is retribution time. We are coming back and we’re coming back with a vengeance. I mean, who doesn’t love a good underdog story?!”

You can watch Richardson compete when Australian Survivor: Champions V Contenders kicks off on Wednesday 24 July at 7:30pm on 10 and the WIN Network.
