Qantas has reclaimed the number one spot in the 2019 Randstad Employer Brand Research Awards, being crowned the most attractive employer in the country.

The iconic Australian airline has been recognised for its job perks, including travel benefits for employees alongside its perceived adoption of technology and consistent financial performance.

In contrast, Virgin Australia has fallen six places in the rankings from last year to eighth, while the only other aviation company to make the top 20 was Boeing Australia at 18th.

Here’s the list of Australia’s 20 most attractive employers for 2019:

  1. Qantas
  2. Epworth HealthCare
  3. Apple
  4. PricewaterhouseCoopers
  5. Tasmanian Government
  6. Infosys Technologies
  7. University of Melbourne
  8. Virgin Australia
  9. ABC
  10. Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology
  11. Federal Government
  12. Healthe Care Australia
  13. University of Sydney
  14. The University of Queensland
  15. University of New South Wales
  16. Australian Red Cross Society
  17. Monash University
  18. Boeing Australia
  19. G8 Education
  20. Douglass Hanly Moir Pathology

When it comes down to what really matters to Australians, work-life balance continues to be the single most important reason for employees to stay in their roles (54 per cent), according to research by Randstad.

At a time of high employment and talent scarcity, one third (30 per cent) of people are planning to change roles within a year. Here, young workers (aged 18 to 24) are set to be the most transient (40 per cent).

Looking at the impact on a business’ bottom line, Randstad’s research indicates a direct correlation with a job seeker’s experience and their consumer purchasing behaviour.

Here, 39 per cent of respondents strongly agreed that their experience as an employee with a company would influence their decision to purchase a product or service.
