The Travel Corporation celebrates St Patrick’s Day by going green

The Travel Corporation brands Trafalgar and Insight Vacations have forgone pints of Guinness this year to celebrate St Patrick’s Day a little differently.

They’re going green, but not in the traditional sense associated with the holiday, instead opting to highlight sustainable tourism practices.

“The tourism sector has immense opportunity and power to stimulate economic activity, which delivers jobs, sense of purpose and participation,” said Trafalgar’s CEO, Gavin Tollman.

“By encouraging dispersal and year-round travel, this helps communities outside of the main centres – sites of cultural significance and history – to remain thriving.

“We pride ourselves on offering unique opportunities for our guests to connect with the real Ireland – and they love that when they travel with us, they can see the tangible impact their visits are making in lesser-known destinations while enjoying the richest possible travel experience.”

With 14 unique itineraries and counting, Ireland continues to be one of the brand’s most popular destinations with guests returning time and time again.

While the wild landscapes, energetic cities, characters and plenty of craic fulfil plenty Irish travel dreams, it’s the brand’s inclusion of alternative destinations and experiences that offer a different travel experience, with the brand constantly seeking out new, immersive experiences that encourage tourism dispersal that benefits local communities.

Meanwhile, Insight Vacations is using the occasion to highlight its sustainability efforts as part of its Insight Cares Initiatives.

In line with Tourism Ireland’s Global Greening initiatives, the brand continues its commitment to sustainability through the TreadRight Foundation’s three pillars – People, Planet and Wildlife – by emphasising the importance and impact of their local volunteer work in Australia.

During the past 12 months, Insight Vacations has managed to plant over 36 acres (30 football fields) of trees, its staff undertook 258.5 volunteer hours with a charity of their choice and 57 per cent of Australian guests opted to receive e-documentation as part of Insight Vacations partnership with One Tree Planted which sees a tree planted in Tasmania for every guest who chooses to receive e-docs instead of printed documents.
