G Adventures and Nat Geo announce family travel offering

Two children and their mother enjoy quality time together as they hike along a mountain range in Alaska. They are holding her hand as they bounce along through the grass. The mountains are rising up in the background.

G Adventures and National Geographic have announced they’ll be launching a new travel offering – National Geographic Family Journeys with G Adventures.

Coming off the back of National Geographic’s Journeys success, the new program of 12 trips will feature experiences for children aged seven and above.

These are set to go on sale globally, May 7 2019, for travel on departures in 2020.

Adrian Piotto – Australia and New Zealand, managing director, G Adventures – said the move to cater to the family market was a natural extension of their partnership with National Geographic.

“This new program of trips is perfect for adventure-loving families looking to discover the world together. The newly-designed itineraries have been developed from scratch to inspire travellers of all ages to uncover each destination’s diverse characteristics, from wildlife and conservation to history and culture, exploration, and photography and storytelling,” Piotto said

“All our groups are made up of an international mix of travellers, giving families the opportunity to connect not just with each other, but with their fellow travellers and the local people they meet along the way. As is the case with all G Adventures tours, we encourage interactions with local people, and ensure as much money as possible stays in the communities we visit.”

National Geographic Journeys with G Adventures Alaska Journey gave tourists the chance to see North American bears.

The companies joined forces in 2015 with the launch of National Geographic Journeys with G Adventures – a program of small group adventures.

Journeys has grown to include 89 trips in 53 countries during 2019.

Andrea Robinson – Australia and New Zealand Director, National Geographic Expeditions – said that the company were excited to expand their partnership with G Adventures to include family trips.

“Travel is one of the most rewarding and enriching experiences a family can have together and we are thrilled to announce 12 new adventures to our global family of travellers in 2020,” Robinson said.

The 12 itineraries in the new National Geographic Family Journeys with G Adventures collection go on sale on May 7, 2019. These will be bookable online and through travel agents.

Travellers and agents can be the first to know about the new itineraries by signing up here.
