BREAKING: The world’s best coffee isn’t in Australia

How to make latte art by barista focus in milk and coffee in vintage color tone.

Us Aussies have been praised time and time again for our delicious coffee – and nationwide coffee culture.

But in a somewhat surprising turn of events, the best coffee in the world is actually found in… Zurich?

Well, according to the World Brewer’s Cup, that is.

Last week, Emi Fukahori, the owner of a small cafe in the Josefstrasse coffee-aficionados section of Zurich, claimed her title of the best brew in the world.

Held in Brazil this year, the World Brewer’s Cup is a competition to showcase the skill of brewing coffee by hand. Contestants compete in their own country first, then travel to the international finals.

Which was where Fukahori, owner of Mame in Zurich, claimed her crown, Lonely Planet reported.

In 2015, Fukahori won the Swiss barista championship, then later opened the coffee shop – which has a minimalist interior design and a ton of specialty coffee for espressos and filter coffee.

“We wanted to have a place to grow the coffee-loving community of Zurich. So far it has been great and exciting,” she told Lonely Planet.

Fukahori added that while she was prepared for the competition, she was still humbled and surprised to be crowned the best.

“It is always tricky to have your coffee at the peak on the competition day. I got lucky,” she told Lonely Planet.

So if you’re ever in Zurich and craving the best coffee in the world, now you know where to go.
