This French theme park has trained birds to pick up rubbish

Excuse us but a theme park in France has trained a bunch of birds to pick up cigarette butts and other rubbish in return for food.

If that ain’t the cutest/ grossest thing we’ve read all morning, we don’t know what is.

And that’s not just because we secretly LOVE birds.

The BBC reports the theme park, Puy du Fou has trained six rooks to deposit the rubbish into a small box which will give the birds some food in exchange for their hard work.

According to Nicolas de Villiers, head of the park, the initiative isn’t just about keeping the area clean.

“The goal is not just to clear up, because the visitors are generally careful to keep things clean,” he told AFP.

“[It was also about showing] that nature itself can teach us to take care of the environment.”

He also said that rooks, which are part of the crow family, are “particularly intelligent” and “like to communicate with humans and establish a relationship through play.”

Please excuse us while we set-up a kick starter so we can go visit the talented little guys and applaud their good deeds.
