Qantas releases more reward seats to Hawaii
Qantas Frequent Flyers now have more opportunities to use their Qantas Points on redemption seats for flights between Sydney and Hawaii (Honolulu).
From August, Qantas has put the larger Boeing 747 aircraft on the route, replacing the Airbus A330 aircraft which currently flies between the two cities.
This means there are additional redemption seats available for booking. Between Sydney and Honolulu there are currently 1,900 Economy, 370 Premium Economy and 200 Business redemption seats available to book as Classic Flight Rewards in each direction between 20 August 2018 and 15 April 2019: that’s an average of 55 redemption seats per week in each direction for Economy, 11 for Premium Economy and six per week in the Business cabin.
LATAM increases frequency of non-stop flights between Melbourne and Santiago, Chile
LATAM Airlines Group today announced that it will increase the number of flights on its non-stop service between Melbourne and Santiago, Chile, in response to growing demand from passengers travelling between Australia and South America.
Starting 1 January 2019, LATAM Airlines will increase its service between the two cities from three to five flights per week, providing greater access to LATAM’s South American network of over 120 destinations. The service, which launched on 6 October 2017, is the only non-stop connection between Melbourne and Santiago and has significantly reduced travel times between the two cities.
LATAM Airlines flight LA804 will depart Melbourne (MEL) at 20:10 (local time) on Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday, arriving in Santiago (SCL) at 19:05 the same day (local time), with a flight time of 12 hours 55 minutes. The return flight (LA805) will depart Santiago at 12:45 (local time) on Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday, arriving in Melbourne at 17:30 (local time) the following day, with a journey time of 14 hours 45 minutes.
Emirates revamps its premium offering in First and Business Class
Emirates has refreshed its premium offering with new luxury products in First and Business Class for a more comfortable travel experience. The new products stem from collaborations with BYREDO skincare, Bowers & Wilkins and Emirates’ longstanding partnership with Bulgari for its refreshed amenity kits.
Emirates First Class customers will find the BYREDO travel wellness range of skincare in their private suites. The allergen-free and Chamomile collections were exclusively created for Emirates for a relaxing and hydrating experience inflight. The collection by European luxury brand, BYREDO, was first introduced in Emirates’ new fully enclosed suites on the Boeing 777 last year and is now being rolled out across the fleet. All the products in the collection are manufactured using the best raw materials with a distinct focus on craft and quality.
To amplify the viewing experience on ice, Emirates’ award-winning inflight entertainment system, the airline is rolling out brand new Bowers & Wilkins Active Noise Cancelling E1 headphones in First Class. These headphones were designed by award-winning audio brand Bowers & Wilkins and created exclusively for Emirates using a unique hybrid noise cancellation technology optimised for the Emirates First Class cabins.
Tigerair Australia to be the only low cost carrier to operate Hobart-Gold Coast route
Tigerair Australia has today announced that it will re-commence flights between Hobart and the Gold Coast from 30 October 2018. Tigerair will operate three return services per week between the two destinations and it will be the only low cost carrier to offer direct flights on this route.
To celebrate today’s announcement, Tigerair has launched a sale for flights between Hobart and the Gold Coast starting from $69.95 each way for travel between 30 October -13 December 2018.
Flights can be booked at tigerair.com.au and the sale will run until 11:59pm, 10 August 2018 (AEST), unless sold out prior.
Run the marathon through Astana, the modern capital of Kazakhstan
Air Astana, Kazakhstan’s award winning national carrier, is offering special fares for travel to this year’s Astana Marathon taking place on September 16, 2018 in the Kazakh capital. Hawaiian Airlines has launched a Hawaiian Island Sale offering fares to Honolulu ex-Sydney and Brisbane fromjust$899 return in economy class and from $2,699 return in the carrier’s exceptional lie-flat Business Class.
Special island add-on fares are also available starting at $110 return from Honolulu to Hawaii’s Neighbour Islands. Fares are available via the GDS and are on sale until August 21 2018 for selected travel dates in 2018 and 2019 as detailed below.
Economy class Hawaiian Island Sale fares are valid for travel from October 26 through to December 3, 2018; from January 26 through to April 1, 2019 and from May 6 to June 16, 2019. Business class sale fare are valid for travel from October 26 through to December 3, 2018 and from January 26 through to April 1, 2019.
