Uber is taking to the seas with UberBoat

Travellers can now island hop along the Croation coastline by hailing an Uber.

No, the ridesharing company haven’t created some kind of aquatic car hybrid like these guys did.

They’ve reintroduced UberBoat, allowing travellers to reach their desired destination via speedboat using the Uber app, according to Lonely Planet.

The ridesharing company debuted its boat feature in Croatia last summer, which was used by people from 39 different countries.

Croatia already has a ferry system that takes passengers between the mainland and it’s most popular islands, but UberBoat seems to be reserved for those seeking a more luxe experience, with one-way transfers heading between the mainland and islands, or between islands clocking in at a cold €350 ($550 AUD).

That said, boats only depart from dedicated pick-up destinations located on the coast or designated islands. You can go here for a list of destinations.

Travellers can also book trips for as long as they wish, with no destination in mind for a sightseeing trip with their own personal boat driver, making it easier to explore beaches, coves and caves they might not otherwise have access too.
