Switzerland encourages travellers to “Taste my Swiss City”
Switzerland Tourism has launched their brand new culinary campaign, Taste my Swiss City. Thoughtfully designed and compiled by locals, the culinary tours are available in eleven cities, where each tour includes up to seven handpicked restaurants, bars, bistros and cafés all linked via a leisurely walk.
With the aim to enhance the visitor’s experience by introducing them to what and where locals eat, these carefully put together tours will also inadvertently help them to gain a better understanding of the local ways of life, culture and the ongoing evolution of the city through the eyes of the residents.
To go on one of the culinary tours, visitors will need to book online and receive a ticket. Upon presentation of the ticket at the participating eateries on the chosen tour, they will be served a specialty dish or even drink. At the end of the tour, the visitor will not only have sampled the equivalent of a full meal, but also discovered unusual culinary spots that are off the beaten touristy path.
The tours are self-guided and take between two and three hours on foot to complete. Priced from CHF60 (approx. AU$80) and up to CHF130 (approx. AU$173), Taste my Swiss City tours are available in Basel, Bellinzona, Bern, La Chaux -de-Fonds, Lausanne, Locarno / Ascona, Lugano, Lucerne, Neuchâtel, Vevey / Montreux, and Winterthur.

Rare opportunity to see Lake Eyre with water on new tour
The stunning, white, salt-encrusted lake edge and red sand dunes reflected in the water of Lake Eyre is something few people are lucky enough to witness.
But this year, heavier-than-normal rain in Queensland means guests have the opportunity to see a natural spectacle that occurs only every three years or so. While the area is spectacular even when dry, when water enters the largest salt water lake in the country, the landscape is transformed.
And best of all, book before June 4 and receive an early-bird discount off a trip that not only includes a flight over Lake Eyre – one of this country’s great natural wonders – but also takes adventurers to outback destinations such as Wilpena Pound, Cameron Corner and Tibooburra, just to name a few photo-worthy opportunities.
Couples can save more than $800 on new, five-day trips departing on May 29, June 19, July 3, July 17 and August 21 this year, offered by outback tourism company, Tri State Safaris.
