AFTA names new partner for the agent insolvency scheme

First Data, a leading commerce-enabling technology, will be the merchant acquirer for the Insolvency Charge back Scheme (AICS).

The AFTA Insolvency Chargeback Scheme (AICS) is a non-profit organisation for members of the Australian Federation of Travel Agents (AFTA).

AICS is available to ATAS accredited travel agencies and provides protection against consumer debit and credit card chargebacks. It is a Mutual Beneficiary Fund owned by ATAS entities with no cost to members.

“We are thrilled to partner with AFTA on a scheme that is truly designed to support its members,” General Manager for First Data in Australia and New Zealand, Kees Kwakernaak said.

“Feedback from members who have already signed up has been overwhelmingly positive, and we look forward to working with many more of AFTA’s members.”

It comes as Tramada was announced as a partner to AFTA, to assist travel agents with applying for AICS and managing risks associated with accepting credit card payments.

They have designed a real-time report for clients to easily determine current and future creditor insolvency risk. The tramada AICS report identifies key elements such as creditor, client, travel dates and monies already paid to a creditor.

The report is available now in the standard reporting suite to all Tramada clients at no additional charge.

“AICS is proud to welcome our newest payment partner First Data. First Data’s range of products and solutions has helped thousands of merchants in Australia easily accept debit and credit card payments wherever they do business.

AICS believes First Data is able to support travel agents of all sizes and types and will provide comprehensive solutions to our members,” said AFTA CEO Jayson Westbury.

ATAS travel agents can apply to become AICS by completing the form from the AFTA website.
