What the CEOs of online booking sites earn

Rich Business man

Ever wondered what the CEOs of the world’s biggest online booking and travel sites earn? Grab the tissues now, it’s going to be a tragic read.

Skift has the lowdown on the out-of-this-world pay-checks the top CEOS of online travel companies are earning. From Booking.com to Tripadvisor, the dollar bills these Chief Executives are rolling in is sure to make you choke on your mid-morning coffee.

Lets start with Booking.com CEO Gillian Tans, who has taken out the top spot for the highest paid online travel executive in 2016, earning a total of $17.1 million.

Skift reports that Tans, who works for the Priceline Group’s largest brand, had a cash bonus linked to the earnings before tax, interest, depreciation and amortizations performance of Booking.com.

Tans bumped her Priceline Group Boss, the then-Interim CEO Jeffery Boyd down to second place, who received an earning of $16.49 million. Boyd, who stepped down in January earlier this year, received a nice generous stock bonus of $8 million in 2016.

Coming in third place is Expedia’s senior executive Barry Diller, with a compensation earning of $8.54 million. Diller did beat his fellow Expedia CEO Dara Khosrowshani who came in fifth place with $2.44 million.

However, there is no need to send your sympathies, because the year before in 2015, Khosrowshani’s pay package was a whopping $94.6 million. Yes, $94.6 MILLION! To be fair though, this was a very good time for Expedia, who that year, obtained Travelocity, Orbitz Worldwide and HomeAway.

Over at Tripadvisor, CEO of Attractions Barrie Seidenberg, came in fourth place with a total earning of $3.09 million.

Skift have created the following table to let you have a little sneak peak at what these CEO’s have earned over the past couple of years.
