Challenger Investment Partners, on behalf of the owners, has appointed AccorHotels to manage their Surfers Paradise hotel, which is currently operating as Hotel Grand Chancellor. AccorHotels will take over management of the hotel from 1 October 2016, and re-brand the hotel to the group’s renowned Novotel brand.

Tom Smith – CEO at Port of Echuca Discovery Centre and Park Manager Peter Woolman, Adelaide based Discovery Parks announced the commencement of construction on a new multi-million dollar waterpark at its Maidens Inn, Moama property aimed at bringing a new family focussed element to its property on the New South Wales/Victorian border.

The massive new waterpark, 500sqm in size will be one of the biggest caravan park waterparks in Australia and certainly one of the largest in the suite of Discovery properties. Designed with a zero depth splash pad allowing minimal opportunity for water evaporation, with water cycled back into a balance tank where it is treated and reused ensuring maximum efficiency of resources.

“The camping and caravan industry in Australia is going through a huge growth phase with one of the biggest sectors being in the 30 to 54 year age segment, predominantly made up of families”, said Ms Dana Ronan, Chief Marketing Officer for Discovery Parks. “With the development of this new waterpark we are aiming to provide an additional reason for families to include Moama on their holiday itinerary.”

“This new waterpark will add to the family appeal of Moama as an affordable destination for families with a park specifically designed for young families with children aged 0-12, providing affordable and value for money family experiences – good for the local tourism sector and for our local economy”, said Ms Ronan.
