Flight Centre helps power new SME travel app

Flight Centre, operating under its Corporate Traveller and Flight Centre Business Travel brands, has partnered with Serko to complete a panel of Travel Experts powering a new SME travel app, serko.travel.

The online travel booking and expense management announced that the Flight Centre brands will complete the line-up of Travel Experts powering Serko’s new online travel management app which will launch in July in partnership with XERO.

Businesses with up to 150 employees can use the app for a new manage every aspect of their company travel. The app will allow users to make bookings online for free and crucially, give them access to Travel Expert support via phone or email, if they have a problem during the booking process, or whilst they are travelling for business.

Serko CEO Darrin Grafton said, “Flight Centre is one of the biggest players in the business with some of the best expert knowledge in supporting small and medium sized businesses and I’m thrilled that they have agreed to work with us on this initiative. Smaller businesses that book direct on multiple travel supplier websites waste on average 6 hours per booking and I’m 100% confident that together we can help to create a more efficient and streamlined travel management experience for SMEs initially in Australasia, but ultimately world-wide.”

Flight Centre COO, Melanie Waters-Ryan commented “as part of an industry-changing initiative and we think there’s great potential in the app within the unmanaged section of the market. By leveraging our Corporate Traveller brand and our Flight Centre Business Travel brand, we hope to attract a broad cross-section of SMEs to select us as their Travel Expert”

The estimated spend of SMEs on travel is more than $15 billion, with around 66 percent of bookings made direct with airline and hotel providers. Serko.travel brings the travel suppliers that SMEs value together in one place helping them to save time, hassle and money and driving a revolution in the way small businesses manage their travel.
