Centara Hotels & Resorts treats Flight Centre Agents on a Culinary Adventure in Thailand
11 lucky Flight Centre agents from Victoria were recently treated to experience a ‘Culinary Adventure’ on a 7-day famil highlighting the best of culture, food, nature and top quality accommodation in Bangkok and Chiang Mai.
First stop for the group was northern Thailand’s cultural hub, Chiang Mai, where the agents experienced traditional Lanna style accommodation at Centara Khum Phaya Resort & Spa, part of Centara Boutique Collection. Located in the heart of Chiang Mai, the resort’s design and architecture are based on Northern Thai traditions and customs.
Part of the Chiang Mai itinerary was also a Flight of the Gibbon Adventure Tour where the agents had a chance to zipline over the forest canopy as well as tea-tasting, the visit of an eco-mountain village and a hands-on cooking class.
In Bangkok the group was hosted by Centara Watergate Pavilion Resort, a modern 4-star property set in the very central and renowned Pratunam.
On the last night of the trip, the group was treated to enjoy stunning panoramic city views from UNO MAS restaurant, a brand new dining venue located 54 floors above Bangkok at Centara Grand at CentralWorld.

JNTO sends e-Learning best and brightest to Japan
Japan National Tourism Organization (JNTO) will send exemplary performers in their e-Learning programme on one of two famils to Japan to experience the country’s unique wonders for themselves in October 2016.
The first of the two options will take the lucky winners on a tour through Japan’s “Golden Route,” consisting of stops and activities at Tokyo, Hakone, Kyoto, Osaka and Hiroshima.
The second will take participants on an outdoor journey through Japan’s Alpine Route, stopping at Kyoto and Osaka to experience their metropolitan splendours.
JNTO Sydney Office’s Executive Director, Ms. Mariko Tatsumi, said the trip was an excellent way for successful agents to see how they could put their knowledge to practical use.
“This famil is a great opportunity for agents to enjoy the same experiences they’ll be sending their clients on.”
Since its launch in March, JNTO’s e-Learning programme has attracted more than 400 participants.
The competition will run until 15 August 2016, after which the winners will be announced.
The free JNTO e-Learning programme is available at https://elearning.jnto.org.au/ and is compatible with both desktop and mobile devices.

Agents experience Mekong with Scenic
Scenic invited a lucky group of travel agents on board their very first ship in South East Asia – Scenic Spirit. For eight unforgettable days 32 agents cruised the mighty Mekong River through Vietnam and Cambodia.
Starting in French infused Vietnam, agents had the chance to experience different Scenic Freechoice activities including visiting the famous Cai Be floating markets; exploring Dong Ha Hiep Island; visiting Evergreen Island and the local Cai Dai Temple; the town of Chau Doc, and finally the Tra Su Bird Sanctuary.
Sailing further north and crossing the Cambodian border, the famil travelled to the capital of Phnom Penh where agents could choose to explore the busy city by tuk tuk, taking in some of its many highlights such as the Russian Market and the stunning colonial buildings. Or many chose to experience the very moving Killing Fields and tour Tuol Sleng, the former school which was converted to the main prison by the Khmer Rouge.
Agents also enjoyed two Scenic Enrich experiences in Cambodia – high tea with an exclusive private shadow puppet show at the luxury Raffles, Hotel Le Royal, and a blessing from a Buddhist monk in the pagoda in the ancient capital of Oudong.
