TTC’s $1m giveaway gets agent thumbs-up

The Travel Corporation has reported a “fantastic” response to its Great $1 million Cash Giveaway agent incentive since its launch at the start of the month.

Speaking to Travel Weekly, Trafalgar managing director Matthew Cameron-Smith highlighted the magnitude of the promotion.

“It’s the first time ever in the history of TTC that we’ve done anything on this scale,” he said.

“Not many companies are rewarding the front line. There are certainly frequent flyer points and onboard credits and that kind of thing which are great, but the focus of this incentive was to really recognise the support we get from frontline and reward them for it.”

“It comes back to the fact that TTC brands are built on travel agent distribution,” Cameron-Smith continued. “We thought about what is the best way to say thank you and nothing talks like cash.”

More than 500 consultants across Australia have the chance to reap rewards in the biggest and best incentive in the industry, with the top performing agent set to scoop an impressive $50,000 cash prize simply by making the most sales across TTC’s brands between 1 November 2015 and 30 April 2016.

If the promotion is a success, it will become an annual opportunity with the stakes to be raised next year, he revealed. And so far it is looking good.

“Initial feedback has been fantastic,” he said. “What we’re seeing in exchanges socially and with sales teams and marketing teams is that everyone wants to be part of it.”

For every new individual booking made by an agent on any land tour on Trafalgar, Contiki, Insight Vacations, LuxuryGold by Insight Vacations, Uniworld Boutique River Cruise Collection, CostSaver, AAT Kings (Guided Holidays only), Inspiring Journeys, Adventure World and/or Busabout (Hop-on, Hop-off), they will be eligible to win a share of the $1,000,000 cash.

The bonanza prize pool leader board began on November 1 providing those agents that generate the most revenue on land tour sales (cruise bookings  for Uniworld) during the qualifying period with an array of cash rewards. Aside from the $50,000 Top Tier prize, three agents can aspire to a Tier 2 windfall of $25,000 each and 15 Tier 3 winners will earn $10,000 each. Additionally, two bonus prizes of $10,000 will be randomly drawn each month and given to agents who have sold a minimum of two trips with participating TTC brands.
