Galea leaves Hawaii for Hawaii

Galea leaves Hawaii for Hawaii

Hawai’i Tourism Oceania (HTO) will soon have a new permanent country manager for Australia following the departure of Ashlee Galea.

Galea has announced that she will be leaving the Walshe Group and HTO as of October 23 in order to pursue further career opportunities and fulfil her dream of “living and working in the Hawaiian Islands.”

“It has been an absolute privilege to work for the Walshe Group and contribute towards the growing relationship between Hawaii and my home country of Australia,” Galea said in an email to colleagues.

“The special places I’ve seen across the islands, the experiences I’ve had, the incredible people I’ve met, the genuine spirit of aloha I’ve felt, have all had a profound impact on me.”

Following Galea’s final day with the Walshe Group, PR manager for HTO Janaya Birse will become acting country manager Australia while they transition the role, however a new appointment to the position will rely on the Oceania request for proposal to win the contract for Hawaii.

This decision will be determined by December 31, with Galea providing ad-hoc support to HTO until the results of the proposal are revealed.
