Royal Caribbean expands to China

Royal Caribbean expands to China

Royal Caribbean is expanding itself in the China cruise market, with its third Quantum-class ship, Ovation of the Seas, to call China its new home.

Based in Tianjin, the newest ship will be launched in April 2016 – the fifth cruise ship based in the China region.

“Cruising has become very popular for Chinese consumers…” Royal Carribbean’s President and CEO, Michael Bayley said. Bayley also announced that the company will be investing in training and employment of Chinese talent for the newest ship.

Ovations of the Seas will join Quantum of the Seas, Mariner of the Seas, Voyager of the Seas and Legend of the Seas, making it the largest fleet deployment for any cruise brand in China.

In further attempts to engage the Chinese economy, the cruise line is also investigating potential drydock facilities, logistics centres and an in-bound tourism business model.
