Midweek interview with Nic Bryant, Vice President, Commercial & General Manager HotelClub for Agents

The challenge for the industry is… Keeping up with how customers want to book travel.  Consumer behavior is change with new generations of travelers.  This is creating exciting opportunities for the industry to innovate.

The things I like about my job…  I work with some incredibly talented, hard-working people in an unbelievably fast moving environment.  This means what we are doing today bares almost no relation to what we were doing this time last year.  This makes every day challenging & enjoyable to be part of.

And the frustrations are …  24 hour day.  7 day week.

If I didn’t work in travel I would be…  Really disappointed.  In the jobs lottery, the travel industry is the jackpot

My proudest moment was…   The birth of my kids…..  And standing up on a surf board for the first time. It is really hard for middle-aged Englishman.

I try to relax by… Spending time with my family & reminding myself how lucky I am to be living in Sydney & doing the job I am doing.

If I can, I always try to avoid…  Military Road at the weekend.  I see enough of it during the week

I really wish I had… Stuck to my diet.  Rash Vest + middle age spread = embarrassing Dad

The best advice I’ve ever received was…Relax.  (It makes you a nicer person to be around)

I don’t understand why people… Smoke.

My greatest weakness is… Aussie Shiraz.  Until I moved here I didn’t appreciate just HOW good a Barossa red can be.

And my greatest strength is… A real passion for what I do.

If I was prime minister I would… Lose the budgie smugglers.  Not cool.

I’ve always wanted to travel to… Japan.  There are not many places in the world that are really unlike anywhere else.  Japan has always struck me as one of those, and I would love to visit to see for myself.

My favourite holiday was… My honeymoon to Mauritius.  A fantastic destination & great company 🙂
