Aussies getting in debt to go travelling
By admin

Australians rank travel as one of the top five reasons to use a credit card or personal loan, according to research from National Australia Bank (NAB).

NAB’s analysis of credit card expenditure has shown that travel comes in at number five, right behind things like food and transport, suggesting that Aussies value travel almost as much as they value eating.

Customers looking for a personal loan also ranked travel as a common reason for the loan, after debt consolidation, personal goods and refinancing.

NAB Everyday banking, consumer and cards general manager Michael Shurlin said travel was also the subject of one in every 20 searches conducted on the website.

“Many customers are now prioritising travel more than they have in the past, Shurlin said.

Shurlin also cited NAB credit card offers and personal loans as one of the ways travellers can plan their travel budgets, “particularly those wanting to escape the Australian winter and head to warmer locations.”
