TripAdvisor has released the results of its Travellers’ Choice Attractions Awards – its yearly rankings of the top parks and landmarks in the world, with a couple of Aussie attractions making it into the top 20.

The Australian War Memorial was a standout performer, named the number one landmark in both Australia and the South Pacific and number 17 landmark in the world. Kings Park and Botanic Garden Perth was not only the number one park in both regions, but number six in the world.

“These award-winning landmarks and parks are an ideal starting point for taking in the world’s must-see sights,” TripAdvisor’s chief marketing officer Barbara Messing said.

From the Sydney Harbour Bridge to Port Arthur Historic Site, landmarks across Australia dominated the South Pacific category, taking 18 of the 25 top spots, while Aussie parks claimed 16 out of 25 spots in the South Pacific.

Of the world’s top landmarks and parks, destinations like Machu Picchu in Peru, Central Park in New York City and Angkor Wat in Siem Reap, Cambodia took their place in the top 10.
