The signing of four contracts to build and operate exhibition facilities at Glebe Island will provide certainty that Sydney can host events during the construction of the new convention centre at Darling Harbour, the Tourism and Transport Forum has said.

"The fact that the uncertainty over the Glebe Island facilities has been resolved is very good news," TTF chief executive Ken Morrison said.

"There are 120 events holding space at the interim facility so it's important that the interim facilities are up and running as soon as possible."

 

Cathay Pacific has today launched a five-day sale on fares to London. Return economy fares start from $1703 fcrom Perth and $1720 from Sydney.

 

Sydney has fallen out of the top 10 cities in Travel and Leisure's Best Awards for the only the second time in 13 years.

The NSW capital was 12th in the list with the expense of visiting Sydney one of the key drawbacks.

The last time Sydney failed to make the top 10 was in 2009.
