Pets become Virgin frequent flyers

Pets become Virgin frequent flyers
By admin

Virgin Australia has launched a Velocity Frequent Flyer program for pets to reward the owners who fly 30,000 animals on the airline's domestic routes each year.

"A large proportion are owned by Velocity members, so we know how important their companions are to them," Velocity Frequent Flyer chief executive Neil Thompson said.

Bondi Vet Dr Chris Brown launched the program today and said the program recognises how much pets enrich our lives.

"Now, not only will our dogs and cats give back to us in the form of unconditional love, but also in the form of our next holiday or retail purchase through points," Brown said.

Velocity program members will earn 300 points for each trip their pet takes on a domestic flight.

"We will continue to come up with creative and compelling ways to deliver meaningful rewards and recognition to our members," Thompson said.

There will be a nation-wide search for an official pet ambassador as part of the program. In the next four weeks, pet owners can enter their cat or dog on Virgin's facebook page.
