Travel Counsellors has confirmed its Australian general manager, Deb Duncan, will stand down, with Tracy Parkinson to step into the role.

Duncan, who will depart at the end of July, has led Travel Counsellors in Australian since 2010 when she was brought in to develop its Melbourne team and strengthen its Australian presence.

"Having now achieved what I set to do by building up such a fantastic team, it is now time to step down from the role and give someone else an opportunity to take the company forward and allow me the time to consider other opportunities," she said.

Parkinson, currently head of business development based in Melbourne, has been with Travel Counsellors for 14 years.

The home-based firm reported a "great start" to the year with global sales up 11% so far in 2013 and expected to top $600 million, up from $540 million in 2012.
