China eases Tibet travel restrictions

China eases Tibet travel restrictions
By admin

Adventure operator G Adventures has welcomed the relaxation of travel restrictions to Tibet in a move that will make it easier to confirm travel plans for its clients.

The boss of G Adventures local operation, Pete Rawley, said the easing – but not the elimination – of the strict conditions will help provide a degree of certainty for travellers.

Under the changes, announced by the Chinese Government, there is now no longer a minimum number of travellers required per nationality within a tour group.  For trips that enter Tibet from China, permits will be granted for tour groups with travellers from three nationalities or less although tours with four nationalities will still be refused entry.

Trips entering Tibet from Nepal will have no restrictions on the number of nationalities per group.

“Previous policies made it logistically difficult to confirm travellers on our Tibet tours,” Rawley said. “We welcome this easing of travel restrictions which now makes it easier for travellers to experience this amazing part of the world.”
