The quality of Australia’s tour guides must improve in order to cater to the burgeoning Chinese inbound market, the Australian Government has warned.

It encouraged businesses to submit their concept for a “sustainable solution” that addresses the need for higher quality tour guides as part of the T-QUAL Strategic Tourism Investment Grant – Servicing Chinese Visitors project. Up to $900,000 is available for the project.

 

Cabin crew aboard Malaysia Airlines’ A380 aircraft have started using iPads to enhance inflight services for customers.

The iPads are part of SITA’s digital cabin crew solution, CrewTablet, which provides access to passenger and operational data. The new solution, branded MHcrew, will be trialled for six months.

 

Sukosol Hotels will open its fifth hotel, Wave, in Pattaya Bay, Thailand in April. The launch of the 21-room property follows the opening of Sukosol’s The Siam in Bangkok last year.

 

Travelport has launched its Smartpoint App for the Worldspan Go! Desktop, designed to reduce training needs and improve agent productivity and customer service.

The application “infuses” the cryptic environment with new navigation features and graphical user interfaces.
