Princess Cruises has begun taking bookings for its 2014 Europe cruise season with the new Regal Princess set to plough the Mediterranean following its inaugural voyage on June 2 next year.

The 3,600-passenger liner will mark its debut with a seven day voyage from Venice to Barcelona before a 10-night Mediterranean and Aegean cruise. A season of Grand Mediterranean cruises, offering two itinerary choices will follow.

Meanwhile, another of its new ships, Royal Princess, which enters service this European summer season, will operate the cruise line's Scandinavia and Russia voyages.

Three other ships feature in the program. Ruby Princess will be based in Southampton for 12-day British isles cruises and one North Cape and Summer Solstice cruise, while Emerald Princess will also be based in the south coast UK port and undertake sailings in the Med, Northern Europe and Canary Islands.

Ocean Princess will cruise Northern Europe and the Med and new Black Sea and Holy Land voyages.

The program features 94 departures on 28 itineraries and more than 120 destinations. New ports include Alta in Norway, Salerno in southern Italy and Jersey.
