Jetstar Japan strikes Sabre deal

Jetstar Japan strikes Sabre deal
By admin

Jetstar Japan has expanded its distribution network after striking a deal with Sabre, as low cost carriers continued their strategy of selling through GDSs.

The agreement will give Sabre-connected agents worldwide access to Jetstar Japan's fares and schedules.

The carrier's chief executive Miyuki Suzuki described it as an "important step" in expanding its market reach.

Hans Belle, Sabre Travel Network vice president and general manager Asia Pacific, said the deal was in keeping with a shift in strategy from budget airlines.

"In the past low cost carriers traditionally have not distributed through GDSs but this trend has been changing, with many of these carriers realising the extended reach that GDSs such as Sabre can provide them," he said.
