Amadeus has appointed Tony Carter as the new managing director of Amadeus IT Pacific based in Sydney, effective March 1.

He replaces Sari Vahakoski who is returning to the Amadeus head office in Europe following her maternity leave.

Carter has worked with the technology firm for 20 years, most recently as its Flight Centre account director based in Brisbane.

Amadeus Pacific president David Brett said Carter brings to the role his passion for customer service, the travel industry and team development.

"Building on recent market successes, Tony will bring his broad managerial and corporate experience to bear to deliver the advanced solutions and support that customers in this highly demanding market require," he said.

Carter will be responsible for driving Amadeus' commercial and operational strategies, and exploring new market opportunities within the region.
