Etihad-Aer Lingus sign codeshare

Etihad-Aer Lingus sign codeshare

Etihad Airways and Aer Lingus have further deepened their relationship with an interline and codeshare agreement following the Abu Dhabi-based carrier’s acquisition of a 2.98% stake in the Irish airline.

The deal will see Etihad place its EY code on Aer Lingus flights between Dublin, Manchester and London Heathrow and destinations across the British Isles, Portugal, Netherlands and the US.

Meanwhile, Aer Lingus will put its EI code on Etihad flights between Abu Dhabi and Dublin, with full access to flights across the network beyond Abu Dhabi, including Australia.

Etihad president and chief executive James Hogan said the agreement would give the airline’s customers access to new travel options and flight connections.

“The codeshare agreement is an early indication of the success of Etihad Airways’ strategic plan to acquire equity in Aer Lingus and other airlines and the instant benefit it brings to both airlines’ customers around the world,” he said.

The codeshare flights are now on sale for travel from September 15.
