No replacement for Tiger boss

No replacement for Tiger boss
By admin

Tiger Australia chief executive Andrew David will serve his last day with the airline on March 14, with no replacement being sought while its future ownership remains in doubt, the airline has confirmed.

Chief pilot Harry Holling has been appointed to the interim position of acting chief executive as David departs to head up Jetstar's long haul operation.

But there is no search underway for a permanent replacement as uncertainty hangs over Virgin Australia's proposed acquisition of a 60% stake in the airline.

"If the proposed divestment is given the green light, it has been agreed that Virgin Australia will nominate the first CEO of the new Tiger Australia, who will be reviewed and appointed by the Board of Tiger Australia," a statement from the airline said.

"Tiger Airways reiterates its position that the proposed joint venture with Virgin will allow Tiger Australia to compete more effectively in the Australian market, resulting in more low cost flights and continued benefits to consumers."

The group thanked David for his "leadership and achievements" during his time at Tiger.
