Who won a new car with AccorHotels?

AccorHotels has partnered with the Australian Open with the hotelier stressing that events are imperative for tourism growth.

Events like English Premier League matches, conferences, and Vivid Sydney were cited as gaining traction for the industry.

“The reality is the events calendar has given a much stronger pitch to convert,” AccorHotels chief operating officer Simon McGrath said.

“It’s almost like taking a marketing campaign and putting it on steroids,” McGrath added.

The Australian Open attracts 700,000 people to Melbourne Park with a global audience of 370 million.

The partnership will run for three years and will offer benefits to Le Club AccorHotels members, among other collaborations on customer service and concierge services.

As for the Australian dollar, AccorHotels is happy to see it remain at this level.

“The 70/75 mark seems to be the right sweet spot,” McGrath said.

Meanwhile, the tourism sector is beginning to behave and be recognized as a tier one sector, which McGrath welcomed.

The comments were made at the AccorHotels Showcase last night which was held at Sofitel Sydney Wentworth, attended by more than 800 travel industry members.

The major prize was awarded to corporate Wing On Tours travel consultant Ina Choy who walked away with a new $30,000 Peugeot 208 car.
