Research: 14 per cent of drunk purchases are travel related

We’ve all done some questionable things while drunk, but have you ever booked an impromptu trip?

Because according to new research from Finder.com and Pureprofile, some 14 per cent of drunk purchases in the US are travel related.

2,100 American adults were surveyed in February about their inebriated purchases and, unsurprisingly, a whopping 52 per cent admitted to ordering take-out while drunk.

43 per cent said they spent their drunk dollars on buying clothes and shoes and 30 per cent bought cigarettes.

The survey found that Americans spent around $447.57 while drunk in 2018, almost double what they spent in 2017.

One man even admitted to buying a peacock, a pig and a giant salamander while under the influence and another couple got wasted and purchased the hotel they were honeymooning at in Sri Lanka.

Suddenly, we don’t feel so bad about our inebriated late-night kebab runs.
