NTIA 2016 Finalists revealed

The Australian Federation of Travel Agents (AFTA) have released the long awaited list of the 2016 National Travel Industry Awards (NTIA) finalists.

“We received over 3,600 industry votes during the NTIA polling period, this is a record number of votes. Competition across all categories was fierce, but the industry has spoken and today we are pleased to announce the highest–ranked nominees who will proceed through to the finalist status,” AFTA Chief Executive, Jayson Westbury said in a statement.

“For the judged categories, presentations to the NTIA Judging panel will take place between Monday 16 May and Tuesday 24 May at the AFTA Office in Pitt Street, Sydney.

“To help with presentation preparation AFTA will be holding a Webinar where NTIA Chief Judge Bob Lunnon will provide industry with a sound understanding of how to appropriately prepare,” Westbury said.

Finally, Category 38, People’s Choice: Retail Travel Agency of the Year award brings a unique element to the 2016 awards. Run in conjunction with International Traveller Magazine’s existing People’s Choice Awards, consumers were asked to vote for their favourite ATAS Retail Travel Agency.

The People’s Choice bricks and mortar suburban ATAS travel agency state and territory finalists are:

• Discover Travel & Cruise QLD
• Home Travel Company TAS
• italktravel Hillarys WA
• Kingscote Travel SA
• Meridian Travel VIC
• Weston Cruise & Travel ACT
• Queanbeyan City Travel and Cruise NSW

Winners from this category, along with the other 37 award categories will be awarded at the NTIA Gala Dinner on Saturday 16 July.
