Hawaiian’s Team Kokua helps clean Alamitos Beach

In conjunction with the live painting of the first “Mālama ‘Āina” mural during POW! WOW! Long Beach, Hawaiian Airlines’ Team Kōkua, an all-employee community service volunteer group, set to work at Long Beach’s Alamitos Beach.

Team Kōkua members gathered at the beach together with team members from OluKai Footwear and POW! WOW!. The more than 40 volunteers worked together to remove litter and marine debris from the Alamitos Beach shoreline.

The cleanup was supported by the California Coastal Commission through the Parks, Recreation and Marine Department of the City of Long Beach.

Hawaiian Airlines’ Team Kōkua engages employees and communities in many generous acts of giving. In 2017 Team Kōkua members volunteered over 10,000 hours in the local community.

Team Kōkua and Hawaiian also supported 127 non-profit organizations; donated $75,000 to local Hawaii charities as part of its HawaiianMiles Charities; gave $100,000 from the HA Foundation fund to organizations specializing in culture, education and the environment and collected over $20,000 in cash donations to support non-profit organizations via Hawaiian Airlines employee fundraisers.
