Japanese airline All Nippon Airways'(ANA) is confident its Sydney-Haneda will prove popular with Australians, particularly those with an interest in ski.

The new route will give Aussies access to ANA’s domestic flights network spanning over 40 cities, with flights landing close to the Japanese capital.

The inaugural flight for the new Sydney to Haneda, Tokyo, route landed last week.

“Haneda is only about 20 minutes away from the CBD and also it’s easier to connect to the other routes from Haneda,” Kenya Inada, ANA’s Senior Vice President of Marketing and General Manager of Asia & Oceania Regional, said.

“For example, for Australians that like to go skiing I think it will be a very popular route.”

Star Wars fans will also be happy to know the route will be serviced by one of ANA’s R2-D2 Dreamliners due to continue the flight for the next five years.

And with ANA’s five star SKYTRAX rating travellers will have a full-serviced alternative to budget airliners with current promotional prices at $980 return.

ANA hopes that if the route is successful they will be able to expand the route to other Australian cities including Perth and Melbourne.
