All stars gather for epic NZ famil

Some 400 Australian travel agents have gathered in New Zealand for the biggest trade famil ever hosted in the country.

The agents, handpicked out of 2500 applicants, kicked off day one of six with a training day hosted by TV personality James Tobin along with sponsors Tourism New Zealand, Air New Zealand and Virgin Australia, to provide hints and tips to convert a potential 5 million active traveller market interested in crossing the ditch.

Contiki founder, NZ’s very own John Anderson commenced proceedings at the Langham Auckland inspiring agents with his roaring tale of turning a marketing ploy ‘Tiki bus’ into a million dollar business, now owned by The Travel Corporation.

Agents will also hear from Air New Zealand CEO Christopher Luxon and sample cuisine from the airline’s executive-chef from Kiwi-institution, Peter Gordon’s, Sugar Club. Concluding the day, agents will be wowed by a surprise celeb guest at a cocktail event held at MOMAT.

Tomorrow agents will be divided into small groups to take off on 23 different itineraries encompassing the best sights in New Zealand.
