Air New Zealand and NSW Government are continuing their partnership, as the state has struck a new, two-year deal with New Zealand’s national carrier to continue to drive additional tourism growth to Sydney and rural and regional NSW.

Minister for Tourism and Major Events Adam Marshall said the new partnership was an extension of the existing Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), which delivered strong results for the State’s visitor economy.

“Our partnership with Air New Zealand has already delivered six nationwide campaigns, contributing an incredible $29 million to the State’s visitor economy.”

“Investment in airline partnerships is crucial to luring more international visitors to our Sydney shores and beyond to our fantastic rural and regional destinations,” he added

Marshall also said New Zealand was NSW’s third top inbound visitor market.

“We want to ensure New Zealand continues to be one of our strongest inbound visitor markets so partnerships with key industry players, such as Air New Zealand, are pivotal to continuing NSW’s tourism growth story.”

“With the close proximity between the two countries, we look forward to encouraging increased visitation from across the Tasman to Sydney and into rural and regional NSW over the next two years.”

Air Zealand General Manager Market Development and Retail Sales, Annabelle Fowler, said the new agreement reinforces the long-standing relationship with the NSW Government.

“NSW continues to be one of the top Australian destinations for New Zealanders, whether it’s a short-break or longer holiday and we are thrilled to be continuing our partnership to encourage more travel with Air New Zealand to NSW,” Fowler said.

In the year ended June 2017, NSW welcomed 424,000 visitors from New Zealand who spent $479 million.
