WA government enlists Flight Centre’s corporate arm to help Aussies get home

Melbourne, Australia - September 20, 2016: View of passengers boarding the Qantas aircraft at Melbourne Airport during daytime. Qantas is the largest domestic and international airline in Australia.

The Western Australian government has hired a Flight Centre-owned travel agency to help return Australians to their home state.

The state has appointed FCM Travel Solutions to help Aussies book a commercial flight back to Western Australia or to help those quarantined in Perth return to their home state.

The move follows the recommencement of commercial flights within the country as most of those quarantined in Perth complete their 14th day in quarantine.

While the cost of the flight will need to be paid by the individual, booking fees for the agency will be covered by the State of Western Australia.

Like other states, WA said it will continue to accommodate people for a period of 72 hours following the completion of their quarantine to allow them adequate time to book and board a flight.
