TTC’s leadership team gives back by volunteering at FoodBank
Edited by Travel Weekly

The Travel Corporation’s (TTC) Australian leadership team volunteered at FoodBank this month assisting with packaging produce for over 16,000 meals.

Together with the FoodBank team, the TTC team sorted nearly 13,000 kilos of onions, kale, carrots, sprouts, apples, oranges and broccoli whilst also boxing chocolates, ready meals, mayonnaise and pasta sauce. The scale of this operation is reflecting the growing necessity to provide food relief to Aussies in need.

Volunteering and giving back is important to TTC.  The company has a goal to complete 30,000 volunteer hours by 2025 as part of its five-year sustainability strategy, launched in 2020, of  How We Tread Right (HWTR).

The goals are tracked with an annual Impact Report, and the second report, released in July this year, reported that by the end of 2022 TTC staff completed 7,471 volunteering hours, which is 46 per cent of the 2025 total goal.

TTC’s impact report also revealed that sustainability is more important than ever to Australian travellers, with half agreeing they are more informed about sustainable travel compared to five years ago and two in five people (40%) revealing that their values have changed in the past five years as sustainability and climate change issues have come to the forefront.

Shannon Guihan, TTC chief sustainability officer and head of The TreadRight Foundation said, “Our Impact Report 2022 provides direct insight into the work we’ve done to achieve our sustainability ambitions to date as we continue to work towards achieving our long-term goals. These focus on climate action, sustainable food production, responsible consumption, travel experiences, diversity, equity and inclusion, and animal welfare.”
