Tourism Australia has confirmed that its New Zealand country manager, Jenny Aitken, will be departing the organisation at the end of the month.
Aitken has held the role since 2008, and will finish up at Tourism Australia on Tuesday.
“Jenny has been with Tourism Australia for almost 12 years now and, during that time, has done a tremendous job in driving the economic benefit for Australia within the New Zealand market,” Tourism Australia’s managing director, Phillipa Harrison, said.
With Aitken’s departure and following a global review of Tourism Australia’s strategy, business event operations will now be managed from the organisation’s headquarters in Sydney.
This shift is consistent with recent changes to Tourism Australia’s management of its business events operations for other key markets, including the UK.
“New Zealand will continue to be an important business events market for Tourism Australia, and activities targeting this sector will continue and complement expected new consumer marketing activities in the coming months when travel conditions allow,” the organisation said in a statement.
