Tigerair teaches travellers how to fly

Tigerair Australia is getting into the video spirit, with its latest venture involving some of Melbourne Storms’s top players.

The airline today launched a ‘How To Fly Tigerair’ educational spiel, starring some of the biggest names in the NRL, like Cameron Smith, Billy Slater and Cooper Cronk.

Tigerair Australia’s commercial director, Adam Rowe, said the video has been launched ahead of Easter, one of the busiest travel periods in Australia, and before Tigerair’s first home sponsored Melbourne Storm match on Monday.

“Essentially the video is a fun way to educate the travelling public about flying Tigerair and also to leverage our partnership with Melbourne Storm,” Rowe said.

“Demand for flights is always very high across the Easter holiday period, which means airports are busier than usual and we want to help everyone get to their destination as quickly as possible.

“It’s easy to fly Tigerair – simply know your options and play by the simple rules. Essentially that’s about turning up on time and ensuring you book the right luggage allowance for your travel needs. The boys in purple found it easy and we want our customers to as well.”

The video launches today at midday (AEDT) on Tigerair Australia’s You Tube channel, Facebook page, website, and even direct to Tigerair Australia’s “Infrequent Flyer Club” members.

Tigerair now has web check-in available across Australia and self-serve check-in kiosks in popular ports to make travelling Tigerair more efficient and convenient than ever.

“With Tigerair flying to all the key NRL fixtures around Australia, we’re thrilled to provide sports fans with the opportunity to catch their favourite team in action more often,” added Rowe.

Melbourne Storm’s commercial director Ben Dunn also added that Tigerair has become one of the team’s most dynamic partners.

“The players enjoyed being part of this initiative and it was a great collaboration to bring the partnership to life,” he said.

As well as visible branding on Storm’s media polo and onfield jersey, park signage and the Tigerair cheerleaders, the airline is launching its first ever Big Screen commercial at AAMI Park on Monday April 6, featuring the 2015 Melbourne Storm squad in front of an A320 aircraft.

The flying Tigerair blimp returns to the park, but with the addition of a “fan cam” linked to the big screens attached, encouraging fans to show their “purple pride” as it flies past.

Toby, the Tiger mascot will also be there on Monday and fans will have the chance to win a Tigerair flight voucher when they take a photo with Toby the Tiger and enter the Instagram competition on the day, hashtagging #TigerairAU. The winner will be announced at half time on the big screen.
