The Flight Centre Foundation gears up for massive 2024 with 3 new board members

The Flight Centre Foundation has recently appointed three new members to its board as it looks to invest $200,000 this year.

Tai-Leigh Steffens has been appointed secretary and Simone Seiler and Keith Perkins have been appointed board members.

Seiler, who is also FCM Meetings & Events global general manager, said she was thrilled to be appointed in the role with the foundation.

“I’m motivated by driving and implementing change, and helping others to make a difference at every opportunity, so when given the opportunity to be more involved in the important work of Flight Centre Foundation it was an easy decision for me,” Seiler said.

“I’m excited to be working with The Foundation’s Board, our people across Flight Centre Travel Group, and our charity partners, to bring about positive change in the places we travel, work and live. It truly is a privilege.”

Flight Centre Foundation chair, Andrew Flannery, said that he was excited about what the new members will bring to the foundation.

“Keith, Simone, and Tai-Leigh are all passionate individuals that bring a lot of skill and drive to the Foundation, and I’m thrilled to have them on board. Being able to leverage their experience and connections in events, finance and technology will be invaluable to the growth of the Foundation in 2024 and I’m excited to see what we come up with together,” he said.

“Our Flight Centre Foundation Leader, Suzi Borgelt, has also been instrumental in bolstering the Foundation’s presence since she was brought on in 2023.”

This year, the foundation’s purpose is “to build brighter futures for the communities where we work, live and travel”, according to Flannery. It looks to achieve this by welcoming two new charity partners, FareShare and Happy Paws, Happy Hearts alongside its returning 2023 partners, The Pyjama Foundation and Greening Australia.

“Several of our people have volunteered at FareShare’s kitchens over the years and had a really rewarding experience, so it’s an organisation we’d built a strong relationship with even before we partnered with them,” Flannery said, adding that Happy Paws, Happy Hearts was also heavily requested from those within the foundation.

“Happy Paws, Happy Hearts were one of our Giving Grant winners in 2022, and we had an overwhelming number of people ask about volunteering opportunities after the grants year had ended. Aside from the fantastic work they do, it felt natural to partner with a charity that we know our people are invested in.”

The Foundation was founded on 2008 and is FCTG’s charitable arm which looks to give back to the communities where the industry works, lives and travels.
