Sydney-based boutique travel and lifestyle PR agency, Barking Owl Communications, has been appointed by leading international hotel owner, operator and investor, Minor Hotels, to manage their outbound travel communications program with a focus on the Anantara and Avani brands for the Australian and New Zealand markets.

Commencing in this month, an exciting integrated communications program will support Minor Hotels’ growing portfolio, led by the flagship luxury brand, Anantara Hotels, Resorts & Spas, and the upper-premium brand, Avani Hotels and Resorts.

Currently operating properties across Asia Pacific, the Middle East, Africa, the Indian Ocean, Europe, and the Americas, Minor Hotels has dynamic plans to expand its existing brands via new hotel launches and ongoing enhancements and upgrades as well as exploring further strategic acquisitions. These include the debut of the luxurious Anantara properties in Abu Dhabi, Vienna and Ubud in 2024, and a robust hotel expansion pipeline that includes the arrival of Anantara and Avani in Saudi Arabia, as well as numerous new openings in the already thriving Middle Eastern markets.

“Travelers from Australia and New Zealand remain at the forefront of international wanderlust,” global head of PR, Minor Hotels, Marion Walsh Hedouin, said.

“With this exciting outlook for travel on the horizon, we felt it was the right time to embark on a new voyage with our communications strategy for the Anantara and Avani brands in Australia and New Zealand.

“Barking Owl Communications’ in-depth knowledge of the travel and lifestyle market, their professional approach to our brief coupled with their fresh, creative ideas and a strong understanding of traditional and digital media made them the perfect choice to amplify our brands in this market.

“We are delighted to welcome them onboard.”

Barking Owl Communications was established to support clients in the travel and lifestyle industries and is known for its work with airlines, destinations, cruise lines, industry associations and high-profile hotel launches.

“With a re-invigorated hunger for international travel among consumers in Australia and New Zealand driven by increased outbound airline capacity, this is a wonderful time to embark on an exciting new communications program for Anantara and Avani with Minor Hotels,” founder & MD, Barking Owl Communications, Jill Collins, said.

“These impressive properties are distinguished by their elevated offerings, immersive experiences, and beautifully appointed accommodation matched by highly personalised service.

“We look forward to bringing our previous experience working with luxury tourism and lifestyle brands to this relationship and growing a highly successful partnership into the future.”
